Surgery Procedures
Veterinary Surgery and Anesthesia
We understand that the thought of surgery and anesthesia can be stressful for pet parents. At Compassion Veterinary Center, your pet’s safety and comfort are our priorities. We use carefully selected anesthetic protocols tailored to your pet’s individual health, age, and procedure. Throughout anesthesia, your pet is closely monitored by our veterinary team to support their safety and well-being.
Our hospital performs a variety of surgical procedures, including routine spays and neuters, as well as other soft-tissue surgeries. We also offer select additional services, such as microchipping, which may be performed during an anesthetic procedure when appropriate.
For orthopedic surgeries and other complex procedures beyond the scope of our services, we can help guide you toward an appropriate veterinary specialist or qualified surgical provider. We understand that the cost of surgery can vary considerably, and we strive to help pet parents understand their options so they can make informed decisions about their pet’s care.
Surgical Services
Spay and Neuter Surgery
Spaying and neutering are common surgical procedures that prevent reproduction and may offer additional health benefits.
-
Spaying: The surgical removal of the ovaries, usually along with the uterus, in female pets.
-
Neutering: Commonly refers to the surgical removal of the testicles in male pets.
Our veterinary team can help you determine the appropriate timing for your pet based on their age, health, and individual needs.
Soft-Tissue Surgery
Soft-tissue surgery addresses conditions affecting the skin, underlying tissues, and internal organs. These procedures may be necessary to treat injuries, remove abnormal growths, or address other medical concerns.
Mass Removal
Skin lumps and masses may require removal for diagnostic or therapeutic reasons. When appropriate, removed tissue can be submitted to a laboratory for analysis to help determine the nature of the growth and guide any necessary follow-up care.
Dental Surgery
Dental surgery may be recommended to address damaged, fractured, infected, or painful teeth. Tooth extractions and other necessary dental procedures can help relieve discomfort and improve your pet’s oral health.
Is Surgery Right for Your Pet?
Every pet is unique, and several factors should be considered when determining the best course of treatment. Our veterinary team will help you understand the potential benefits and risks of a recommended procedure, taking into account:
-
Age and overall health: Your pet’s medical history and current condition help guide surgical and anesthetic planning.
-
Potential risks and benefits: Understanding the possible complications and expected outcomes helps you make an informed decision.
-
Alternative options: Depending on the condition, medical management or other treatments may be available.
-
Recovery and aftercare: Healing time, activity restrictions, medications, and follow-up visits may vary depending on the procedure.
-
Additional support: Some pets may benefit from rehabilitation or physical therapy following certain surgeries.
