Preventative Medicine

Preventive Care and Wellness

Keeping your healthy pet healthy is at the heart of preventive veterinary care. Regular wellness examinations allow us to monitor your pet’s health, identify potential concerns early, and help prevent illness before it becomes a more serious problem.

At Compassion Veterinary Center, we take an individualized approach to preventive care. Our wellness services include routine examinations, recommended vaccinations, internal and external parasite prevention, and routine bloodwork when appropriate to help identify underlying health concerns, sometimes before visible signs of illness develop.

We tailor vaccination recommendations to your pet’s age, lifestyle, health, and individual risk factors. Our goal is to provide appropriate protection while avoiding unnecessary vaccinations.

Protecting your pet from parasites is another important part of preventive care. To help ensure medications are prescribed safely and appropriately, Compassion Veterinary Center requires an up-to-date physical examination and annual heartworm testing for dogs before prescribing or refilling preventive medications. These measures help us assess your pet’s health and screen for heartworm infection.

Your pet’s overall well-being involves more than medical care alone. We are happy to offer guidance on training and behavioral concerns, as well as nutrition and weight management. Whether your pet needs help reaching a healthy weight, maintaining their current condition, or addressing specific dietary needs, we can help you make informed nutritional choices.

At Compassion Veterinary Center, we believe that proactive, personalized care is one of the best ways to support a long, healthy, and happy life for your pet.
